Appliance Repair FAQ — Hampton Roads

Common questions about our service.

Do you offer same-day appliance repair in Virginia Beach?

Yes — 6 days a week across Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk. We cover all of Hampton Roads Southside from our Virginia Beach Town Center location.

Why do front-load washers develop mold in Hampton Roads?

Hampton Roads' relative humidity runs 70–80% through summer months — Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean evaporation keeps the air saturated. Front-load washer door gaskets need to fully dry between loads. In this coastal humidity, they often can't. Leaving the door ajar after every load is the most effective prevention in the Tidewater climate.

Does salt air affect appliances near Virginia Beach oceanfront?

Yes — appliances on properties within a mile or two of the Atlantic on the Virginia Beach oceanfront or Chesapeake Bay in Ocean View face salt air corrosion that inland neighborhoods don't experience. Condenser fins, exterior connections, and compressor housings corrode faster in salt air. We assess coastal proximity on every relevant call.

What are Hampton Roads' two storm seasons?

Hurricane season runs June through November — tropical systems produce power surges when the grid restores. Nor'easter season runs November through March — winter coastal storms produce the same surge pattern. Hampton Roads is unique among our markets in having two distinct storm surge seasons, both capable of damaging appliance control boards.

Is Virginia Beach water hard or soft?

Virginia Beach draws from Lake Gaston on the Virginia-North Carolina border at 50–80 PPM — very soft water. Calcium fill valve failures common in Spokane (150–200 PPM) or Denver are not a Tidewater pattern. Ice maker fill valves here typically last 12–18+ years without filtration.

Do you service Ghent and Olde Towne Portsmouth historic homes?

Yes — we assess vintage gas connections and multi-era plumbing on every older Ghent and Olde Towne Portsmouth home before beginning any appliance diagnosis. These neighborhoods have homes from the early 1900s with gas infrastructure and kitchen configurations that require careful assessment.

What does the service call fee cover?

Travel, arrival, and full appliance diagnostic inspection. Applied toward repair if you proceed. If you decide not to proceed, you owe only the service call fee.

What brands do you service?

LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, GE, KitchenAid, Maytag, Bosch, Miele, Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador, Frigidaire, Electrolux, Kenmore, and all major brands.
