Hampton Roads' relative humidity runs 70–80% through summer months — Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean evaporation keeps the air saturated. Front-load washer door gaskets need to fully dry between loads. In this coastal humidity, they often can't. Leaving the door ajar after every load is the most effective prevention in the Tidewater climate.
